This is a statement of the Darlington 3 community event, held in Williamstown, Melbourne, 7-9 January 2020.
The Yogyakarta Principles plus 10 were created in 2017 to expand the Yogyakarta Principles of 2007. An application of international human rights law in relation to sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and sex characteristics, the Yogyakarta Principles plus 10 are a set of Principles and State Obligations that are compatible with the Darlington Statement.
We affirm the Yogyakarta Principles plus 10, including its application of the distinct and intersectional attribute of sex characteristics, and its elaboration of the Principle on the Right to Bodily and Mental Integrity, the Principle on the Right to Truth and the Principle on the Right to Legal Recognition. We call on our governments to implement these Principles. We call on other community organisations to recognise these Principles.
